Types of LHD Volkswagen Cars (models)

In 1950, Volkswagen introduced the Type 2. There are a lot of nicknames and names for the Type 2, including Microbus, Kombi, Bus, Camper, and Minibus. The Type 2 is available in many body styles and interior layouts, like single or double cab pickups, Westfalia vans, Kombis (passenger + cargo), panel vans, and buses. In six generations, the Type 2 was produced: the first (1950-1975), the second (1967-1979), the third (1979-1992), the fourth (from 1990 to 2003), the fifth (from 2003 to 2015), and the sixth (from 2015 to 2021). Type 2 vans became known as Transporters or Eurovans as of the T4 generation.

Origin of LHD Volkswagen

A major German automotive manufacturer founded in 1937 by the German government to mass-produce an affordable "people's car." The company is headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany.

Nazi organization, the German Labour Front, originally owned and ran the company. A new factory in Lower Saxony was inaugurated in 1938 after The German Labour Front had hired Ferdinand Porsche in 1934. Before mass production could begin, World War II broke out, so the factory produced military equipment and cars. By World War II, Volkswagen's factory was a target for Allied bombers. Volkswagen mass production began in 1946 after it was rebuilt under British supervision. From 1949, West Germany and Lower Saxony took over the company. At that point, the country was producing more than half its cars with Volkswagens.
